Prof. Dr. med. Hans-Hinrich Sievers was born in a small village Luhnstedt on the Geest – a landscape in Schleswig-Holstein, in north of Germany. He grew up in close relationship with nature and had an early interest in working with wood. He studied medicine and worked as a cardiac surgeon. After his retirement, he was able to intensify his second passion – sculpturing. He prefers to work with so-called “bog oak” wood. The themes of his works revolve around natural phenomena in conjunction with anthropogenic interventions.
